This can be used in place of the heavy original flywheel and stator plate when converting your bike to total loss for racing. The OEM rotor weighs in at 950g and is around 110mm diameter with a substantial amount of that weight in the perimeter of the rotor. This is replaced by a 62mm 114g rotor and a back-plate to move the ignition pick-ups further in weighing only 36g. That's a total weight saving of 1280g but more importantly it means that the inertia in the crank is significantly reduced.
The OEM rotor outside edge will have a linear speed of 129mph at 10krpm and weighs 950g - our rotor which only weighs 12% of the OEM rotor will have a linear tip speed of only 73mph at the same rpm.
This results in improved throttle response and better acceleration as well as deceleration and less gyroscopic effect in the engine. The reduction in gyroscopic effect makes the bike require less physical effort to change the lean angle resulting in a less tired rider at the end of the race.
